Yam G-Jun, a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Central Asia. Born in Penang, Malaysia, he graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2017.

A former photo intern and contract photographer at the Associated Press (2017-2019) and senior photo editor at The Columbia Chronicle.

He is a alumni of New York Times Student Journalism Institute.

His work has been published by international news agencies around the world including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Chicago Tribune and NPR to name a few. 

Avid history learner, passion for news and documenting human experience and culture, his work reflects the lives of people and the places he have been.

He was awarded Studs Terkel Scholarship for his work in Pilsen, receive Illinois College Press Association Spot News Photo of the Year and has exhibited his work in various group shows in New York state.
